TAPED (2022)

A multimedia performance where personal memory becomes a medium for collective experience.

On the second day of the war, I was taping the windows and thought — how strange: now my life depends on tape.”

This simple, domestic act became the starting point for TAPED, through which Maryna Semenkova transforms her own experience of the war in Ukraine into an artistic space.

Created at Atelier 11 / L’AiR ARTS, Paris, during a two-month residency, the performance layers visual, sonic, and installation elements to reimagine bodily reactions and everyday materials as symbolic expressions of trauma. The act of taping windows—a gesture of protection, isolation, and creating safety—becomes a metaphor for collective states of vulnerability and resilience.

The performance invites the audience into shared empathy, turning intimate traces of war into a communal experience.
