Maryna Semenkova at the seminar War-ning Art: Resilience, Response, and Artistic Knowledge in Finland

On December 3, 2025, Ukrainian multidisciplinary artist and researcher Maryna Semenkova took part in the seminar War-ning Art: Resilience, Response, and Artistic Knowledge in Finland, held in Helsinki.

Within the seminar program, Maryna Semenkova presented a talk titled
“Psychological Resilience in Wartime Art: An Eco-Mind Feminist Perspective.”

In her presentation, she reflected on four years of artistic practice in exile, addressing themes of wartime experience, transgenerational trauma, and the body as an archive of collective memory. She proposed the concept of the psyche as a space where embodied memories are reenacted and potentially re-written, and introduced her emerging theoretical framework of eco-mind feminism, which views the psyche as an ecological system shaped by trauma, care, resilience, and feminist knowledge.

The seminar brought together artists, researchers, and cultural practitioners to discuss artistic responses to war and displacement, as well as the role of artistic knowledge and resilience in the Finnish and European contexts.
